Terms of Use
Moon Races has two ways to race: a free, all-ages Quick Race and an 18+ Staked Racing mode where players wager real $MOONXR. These terms cover both. Please read the Staked Racing sections carefully before putting any $MOONXR on the line.
1 Welcome & Acceptance
Moon Races is a 3D low-gravity drift-racing game operated at moonraces.com, including the staked-racing arena. It offers two distinct modes:
- Quick Race — a free, all-ages browser game. No wallet, no sign-up, no money, no crypto.
- Staked Racing — an optional, adults-only mode where players each stake an equal amount of $MOONXR into an on-chain escrow and the winner takes the pot minus a 3% burn (the winner receives 97% of the pot), plus a small SOL entry fee per player. This is real-money wagering.
By accessing the site or playing either mode, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Moon Races. If you use Staked Racing, you additionally agree to the Staked Racing terms in sections 4–10.
2 Free Quick Race
The Quick Race mode is provided free of charge for personal entertainment. There is nothing to buy, no account to create, no real-money prize, and no wagering, tokens, or cryptocurrency of any kind. It is suitable for all ages and is kept cleanly separate from Staked Racing.
Quick Race is offered "as is" and "as available." We ask that you play fair: don't cheat, hack, tamper with the game, use bots or scripts, or try to break, overload, copy, or disrupt the service. Use Moon Races only for lawful, personal, non-commercial fun.
3 Your Account, Username & Avatar (Staked)
Staked Racing requires you to connect a self-custodial Solana wallet and choose a username and avatar. You are responsible for your wallet, its keys, and all activity that occurs through it. We never take custody of your wallet keys and can never move funds out of your wallet on our own.
- Usernames must not be offensive, deceptive, or impersonate any person, brand, or the operator. We may reject, reclaim, or reset usernames and avatars that violate these rules.
- Avatar uploads must be content you have the right to use and must not be unlawful, infringing, or explicit. We may moderate, replace, or remove avatars.
- One person, one identity per wallet. Operating multiple identities to gain an unfair advantage, collude, or evade restrictions is prohibited.
4 Eligibility & 18+ Requirement (Staked)
Staked Racing involves wagering real money and is strictly for adults. To stake $MOONXR you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher).
- Real-money skill wagering of this kind is lawful for you in your jurisdiction, and you are not located in, or a resident or citizen of, any place where it is prohibited or restricted.
- You are not on any sanctions or prohibited-persons list, and you are not accessing the service from a sanctioned territory.
- You are using your own funds and your own legitimately controlled wallet.
You are solely responsible for knowing and complying with the laws that apply to you. We may use technical measures (such as geolocation and wallet checks) and may require age or identity verification (KYC) before permitting staked play, and we may block, restrict, or refund access where required. Free Quick Race remains all-ages and is not subject to these restrictions.
5 How Staking Works — Escrow, SOL Entry Fee, 3% Pot Burn & Settlement Oracle (Staked)
Staked Racing uses a custody-trustless on-chain escrow on the Solana blockchain together with a trusted result reporter. You must understand and accept this model before you stake:
- Equal stakes & pot. 1–4 players each lock an equal amount of $MOONXR into an on-chain escrow program. The race begins once every player has staked. The pot equals the stake multiplied by the number of players who joined. Each player pays a small stake-tiered SOL entry fee at stake time. On settlement 3% of the pot is burned and the winner receives the remaining 97%.
- On-chain escrow. While a match is open, the staked $MOONXR is held by the escrow program — not by us. On settlement the program pays 97% of the pot to the winning player and burns 3% of the pot; if the match is refunded it returns each player's full stake. It can only ever pay a roster member (net of the fee) or refund the players; we cannot redirect the pot to any outside address.
- SOL entry fee & 3% burn. Each player pays a small SOL entry fee in SOL at stake time (stake-tiered — larger pots pay a larger fee). This fee is non-refundable and compensates for operating the game, servers, and matchmaking. On settlement 3% of the pot is burned and the winner receives 97% of the pot (pot × 0.97). Refunds and cancellations return your full token stake — only the small SOL entry fee is kept.
- Settlement oracle (trusted result). The winner is decided by our game server, which runs the authoritative race and reports the finishing order to the escrow over a signed channel. You acknowledge and accept that the game server is the trusted reporter of the race result and that the escrow pays out based on that signed report. The escrow can only ever pay a player who was actually in the match — never an outside party.
In short: custody of the $MOONXR is trustless (only the escrow holds it and only pays a roster member or refunds), but the outcome is reported by a server we operate. The dispute and timeout-refund processes in sections 7–8 exist to protect you if something goes wrong.
6 Wagering & Volatility Risk · No Refunds After a Result (Staked)
Staking $MOONXR means you can lose it. By entering a staked race you accept that:
- If you do not win, you lose your staked amount to the pot. There are no consolation payouts.
- $MOONXR is a volatile cryptocurrency. Its value can rise or fall sharply, and the fiat value of any stake, pot, or payout may change at any time. We do not control or guarantee the value of $MOONXR.
- Blockchain transactions are irreversible. Network fees, congestion, slippage, or failed transactions are inherent to using Solana and are not our responsibility.
- Once a race result is reported and the pot is settled on-chain, that result is final and the wager is non-refundable. A completed, settled race cannot be reversed or refunded except through the dispute process below, where applicable.
- Stakes are final from the moment the race starts. Quitting or disconnecting after the start is a forfeit — the last racer standing takes the pot (97%, with 3% burned). There are no refunds for forfeited races.
Only stake what you can comfortably afford to lose. Staked Racing is a wager on the outcome of a skill-based race — it is not an investment, and there is no expectation of profit.
7 Disputes & Timeout Refunds (Staked)
We want payouts to be honest and funds never to be stranded. If a match does not complete normally, the following protections apply:
- Timeout refund. If a match fills but the race is never started or never settled within the on-chain time limit — for example a player never stakes, the server goes down, or a result is never reported — the escrow allows the staked $MOONXR to be refunded to the original players. The refund path is permissionless so funds can always be recovered.
- Disputes. If you believe a result was reported incorrectly or a payout was wrong, you may raise a dispute by contacting contact@moonraces.com within 7 days of the match, including your wallet address, the match details, and a description of the issue. We will review server-side race records and the on-chain transactions and respond. Where we determine an error occurred, we will use available means (including a corrective refund where possible) to make it right.
- Disconnects & DNFs — forfeit. Quitting or disconnecting after the race starts is a forfeit. If only one staked racer remains connected, the authoritative server may immediately declare that racer the winner and settle the pot. Disconnecting, quitting, or failing to finish does not entitle you to a refund; the authoritative server determines finishing order and did-not-finish status.
8 Fair Play, Anti-Collusion & Prohibited Conduct
Both modes require fair play. In Staked Racing especially, you agree not to:
- Cheat, exploit bugs, modify the client, automate inputs, or otherwise tamper with the game or the escrow.
- Collude with other players, run multiple identities, "chip-dump," or coordinate to manipulate match outcomes or fees.
- Use the service for money laundering, fraud, or any unlawful purpose, or with funds derived from unlawful activity.
- Attempt to forge, replay, or interfere with the signed result channel or the settlement process.
We may monitor for collusion and abuse using signals such as funding patterns, network information, and rapid rematching, and we may void matches, withhold or refund stakes, suspend identities, and report unlawful activity, consistent with the escrow's custody-trustless design.
9 Responsible Play
Staked Racing is meant to be fun, not a way to make money or chase losses. Please play responsibly:
- Set limits for yourself and only wager what you can afford to lose.
- Take breaks. Never stake while impaired, under pressure, or to recover prior losses.
- If wagering stops being fun or feels out of control, stop. Help is available through national problem-gambling resources in your country.
If you would like your wallet excluded from staked play, contact contact@moonraces.com and we will assist where we can.
10 No Warranty & Limitation of Liability
Moon Races, the website, the arena, the game servers, and the on-chain escrow are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any particular result, payout, or availability will be achieved.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for any loss of $MOONXR, cryptocurrency value, data, or profits, arising from your use of — or inability to use — Moon Races, the volatility or irreversibility of blockchain transactions, third-party wallets or networks, or any wager outcome. You stake and play at your own risk.
11 Intellectual Property
The Moon Races game and the moonraces.com site — including the name, logo, artwork, graphics, sounds, code, tracks, and overall design — are the intellectual property of their creators and are protected by law. You may play and enjoy Moon Races and share a friendly link, but you may not copy, sell, rebrand, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the game or its content without permission.
12 Changes, Suspension & Take-Downs
We may update, improve, pause, restrict, or take down Moon Races or either mode — or change these terms, fees, stake limits, or supported jurisdictions — at any time. If we make meaningful changes to these terms, we will update the "last updated" date above. By continuing to use Moon Races after a change, you accept the updated terms.
13 Governing Law & Severability
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the operator's jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and you agree to bring any dispute there. Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you may have under the law of your own country. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
